Q&A › Worship in the home

🕌 Worship in the home · #127

What intentions and supplications are good for starting married life in the first year?

Begin married life with the intention of making it a path of obedience, tranquillity and love for the sake of Allah, not merely fulfilling your own desires. The Prophet ﷺ said: “The best of you are those who are best to their families, and I am the best of you to my family” (Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3895); make this your daily goal. Pray for blessing, love and good offspring, in your own words after prayer. Renew the intention that every service to your spouse is worship. Pray for your spouse quietly, especially when they hurt you. A home built on good intentions withstands trials better. See guide to starting married life.
