🕌 Worship in the home · #172
We have just moved into our first home. What good practices can we begin life there with?
Begin with gratitude, salam and prayer, because a home brought to life with worship is more easily filled with tranquillity. Say salam when you enter, even if the house is still empty. Allah says: “When you enter houses, greet one another (the people of the house)” (Surah an-Nur 24:61). Pray together in congregation in the house as early as possible, and read the Qur'an in its rooms. If you want to hold a thanksgiving meal, keep it simple and invite your new neighbours so that they get to know you. Stay away from superstitious practices such as amulets to protect the house. Set up a prayer corner and a Qur'an shelf from the first day. A beginning made with good intention will become a memory you both treasure. See prayer corner at home.
