Q&A › Worship in the home

🕌 Worship in the home · #126

As newlyweds, how do we build a shared routine of worship from the start?

The first year is the best time to plant habits of shared worship, because routines formed early are the easiest to keep. Start with one fixed practice, such as praying Maghrib in congregation at home or reading the Qur'an for a few minutes before bed. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Perform some of your prayers at home, and do not make your home like a grave” (Sahih al-Bukhari 432). Wake each other gently for Subuh, and pray for each other. Do not overload yourselves with too much at once; add little by little. A home alive with worship feels calmer and more blessed. See wives' course.
