🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #218
Many of my spouse's efforts go unnoticed because they are taken for granted. How do I notice them again?
Things done every day are the easiest to take for granted, yet that is where much of your spouse's sacrifice lies. Meals always on the table, the work that pays for the home, or a house that is always tidy do not happen by themselves. For a week, try noticing one effort of your spouse that you usually accept without thinking, then thank them for it specifically. Imagine for a moment if that effort stopped; it helps you appreciate it. Appreciation for ordinary things lifts your spouse's spirits more than praise for big things. Start today with one honest thank you. See communication & emotions.
