My spouse passed away after decades together. How do I face this loneliness?

Losing a lifelong spouse is a deep grief, and grieving is not a sign of weak faith. The Prophet Yaakub himself said: “Indeed, I only complain of my distress and my sorrow to Allah” (Surah Yusuf 12:86). Allow yourself to grieve, but do not be alone: draw close to your children, relatives and friends, and keep up a routine of worship that gives your day structure. Pray for the deceased and continue good deeds that send reward to them, such as charity in their name. Slowly fill your days with meaningful things. If the grief is paralysing and prolonged, get help from a doctor or counsellor. See mental health.
