We can only afford to take one set of parents for umrah this year. My parents or my in-laws first?
There is no fixed answer; what matters is that the decision is made together and feels fair to both sides. Weigh a few things honestly: who is frailer, who has never been to the Holy Land, and who has no other children to help them. If the money comes mostly from one spouse's income, respect their right to honour their own parents, but discuss it with your spouse so that no hidden wounds remain. Plan the turn for the other side straight away, with a clear date and savings. Let each decision be conveyed gently to the family by their own child. Fairness in this matter does not have to be simultaneous, but it must be planned and kept. See honouring parents.
