Q&A › Worship in the home

🕌 Worship in the home · #176

Should we take our young children on umrah, or leave them with their grandparents?

Either is fine; the measure is whether you can look after the children while performing your worship properly. Taking young children gives them spiritual memories, but demands a lot of energy amid the crowds, the heat and the long journey. If you take them, choose a less crowded season, bring a light stroller, and plan tawaf at quieter times. If you leave them, make sure the carers agree sincerely, not because they feel awkward refusing. Leave the children's daily routine, their health information and how to reach you. Make a short video call every day. Also consult a doctor about the children's health needs before travelling. See umrah as a spiritual journey.
