Q&A › Character & conduct between spouses

🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #274

I am often afraid of being left or divorced even though there are no signs. What should I do?

Fear of being left usually comes from old wounds or a sense of insecurity, not from the actual situation. Work out whether this fear has a basis or grows out of past experiences. Share it with your spouse so they can reassure you with love. Avoid fear-driven behaviour such as controlling or questioning too much, because it pushes them away. Strengthen your relationship with Allah as a support that is never lost. Build your self-confidence so your worth does not depend entirely on one person. If the fear is paralysing, get counselling. See mental health.
