🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #304
I often accuse my spouse of cheating even though there is no evidence. How do I stop this habit?
Repeated accusations without evidence punish your spouse for a crime they did not commit, and slowly kill their love. Allah warns: “Avoid suspicion as much (as possible): for suspicion in some cases is a sin” (Surah al-Hujurat 49:12). Realise that every baseless accusation puts the burden of self-defence on an innocent spouse. When suspicion comes, write it down and ask yourself what the real evidence is; usually there is none. Bring that anxiety to Allah and deal with it within yourself, not as an attack on your spouse. If you cannot control it, get help from a counsellor. A faithful spouse deserves to be trusted, not judged. See communication & emotions.
