My husband is shy about leading the prayer because he says his voice isn't nice. How can I encourage him?
What is required of an imam is correct recitation, not a beautiful voice. Many husbands feel embarrassed because they compare themselves with mosque imams or reciters on social media. Assure him that the family needs an imam who is present more than an imam who is perfect. Start with the prayers recited silently, such as Zohor and Asar, so that he gets comfortable leading. Then move on to Maghrib with the short surahs he is most confident in. Avoid commenting on his voice, and praise his earnestness. You can also say, ‘I feel at peace praying behind you, Abang.’ Words like that often strengthen him more than any course. See husbands' course.
