🏡 Rights & responsibilities · #304
What should I remember most about being the head of a family?
The most important thing to remember: leadership is a trust you will be questioned about, not a privilege to be enjoyed. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Each of you is a shepherd and each of you will be asked about his flock” (Sahih al-Bukhari 893). This awareness changes how you lead: from merely demanding your rights to caring for those entrusted to you. Ask yourself regularly: are my wife's and children's rights, faith and feelings looked after under my care? Fix one thing you have neglected. Leadership lived with awareness of the Day of Judgement becomes gentle, fair and responsible. Make the question ‘what will I answer before Allah about this family?’ your daily guide.
