Marriage is not as beautiful as I once imagined. Does this mean I chose wrongly?

A gap between fantasy and reality in the first year is normal, and it is not proof you made a mistake but an invitation to build real love. Love before marriage relies heavily on feelings; love in marriage is built through patience, service and daily faithfulness. Allah has placed between husband and wife “love and mercy” (Surah ar-Rum 30:21), and it is nurtured, not perfect from the start. Shift your focus from what is lacking to what you can build. Discuss your hopes openly with each other so reality and expectations come closer. Give it time; many of the happiest couples went through a challenging first year.
