🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #305

How do we keep fights about jealousy from happening in front of the children?

Children take in their parents' quarrels more deeply than we think, so deal with jealousy issues well out of their sight. When jealousy flares in front of the children, postpone the discussion with a signal you have both agreed on, and continue when you are alone. Never make a child someone to complain to or a source of information about your spouse. If the children did witness a quarrel, reassure them and also show them how you make up again. That example of making up is itself a valuable lesson. Save heavy discussions for a suitable time and place. A calm home protects a child's soul. See communication & emotions.
