What is the effect on children when they grow up watching one parent control the other out of jealousy?
Children who grow up watching control and suspicion learn to think that is what love looks like, and then carry it into their own relationships. They may become controlling like what they saw, or accept control from others as something normal. An atmosphere full of suspicion also plants anxiety and insecurity in a child. If you recognise this pattern in your home, the brave step is to fix it, not deny it. Show your children a model of love that stands on trust and respect. Get help from a family counsellor if the pattern is hard to stop. What you change today protects the generations to come. See relationship psychology.
