Q&A › Character & conduct between spouses

🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #265

My spouse is good but not romantic. How do I learn to appreciate them?

Romance is not the only language of love; many spouses show love through actions, not sweet words. Notice how they love you, perhaps by providing maintenance (nafkah), fixing things, or simply being there. Appreciate their love language even if it differs from what you dream of. Tell them gently the kind of attention you like, rather than criticising what they lack. Teach by example by showing the romance you hope for. Accept that sincere love is worth more than a style that is beautiful but empty. Be grateful for their real goodness. See communication & emotions.
