Q&A › Character & conduct between spouses

🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #317

I try to be good to my husband's family but am never appreciated. Should I stop?

Sincere kindness does not depend on people's appreciation, because its true reward is with Allah. But neither do you have to push yourself until you are hurt in order to win hearts that have not yet opened. Keep doing good to the extent you can, intending it for Allah, not hoping for praise. Set healthy boundaries so you are not exploited or belittled. If their treatment becomes constant humiliation, keep a polite distance without cutting family ties completely. Ask your husband to play his role in protecting you. Consistent kindness often softens hearts over time, but intend it for Allah so you are not disappointed. See relations between co-wives.
