Q&A › Worship in the home

🕌 Worship in the home · #177

We worry we will quarrel easily during umrah because of tiredness and crowds. How do we protect our relationship there?

Be aware that tiredness in the Holy Land tests patience, and quarrelling must especially be avoided while worshipping there. Agree before you leave: if one of you starts raising their voice, the other will stay quiet and wait. Set a meeting point at the mosque in case you get separated, so that worry does not turn into anger. Bring snacks and water, because many people get angry quickly when hungry and thirsty. Do not force your spouse to keep up with your pace during tawaf or sa'i. If a quarrel still happens, apologise straight away. Allah says: “And good and evil are not equal. Repel (evil) with what is better” (Surah Fussilat 41:34). See emotional communication.
