Our family is facing a big need. Can we perform solat hajat (the prayer of need) for it?

Turning to Allah with solat hajat unites the family's hearts and strengthens hope while waiting for something. Perform solat hajat individually at the recommended times, then gather to make supplication together for that need. State the need clearly in your supplication, and accompany it with charity and improving your daily practice. Teach the children that we ask Allah, not despair or depend on anything other than Him. Keep up worldly effort alongside supplication, because trust in Allah (tawakal) does not mean sitting with folded arms. If the need has not yet been met, be sure that Allah chooses what is best for you. See du'a & prayer.
