Q&A › Worship in the home

🕌 Worship in the home · #112

I am afraid of giving birth to our first child. How can I calm my heart according to Islam?

Feeling afraid of childbirth is natural, and the way to calm it is to combine good effort with trust in Allah. Allah says: “in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest” (Surah ar-Ra'd 13:28), so increase dhikr, supplication and Qur'an reading in the days before the birth. On the side of effort, go to your check-ups, learn about the birth process so it feels less unfamiliar, and choose a place to give birth that you trust. Share this fear with your husband and with women who have been through it, because knowing you are not alone is a great relief. Having made the effort, leave the rest to Allah with an open heart. See du'a & prayer.
