🕌 Worship in the home · #109

Can we set Qur'an memorisation targets for the whole family?

Memorisation targets suited to each person's ability make the home alive with the Qur'an. Choose short surahs first, and set a small but steady pace, such as a few verses a week. Listen and repeat together so the memorisation is firm, and use it in prayer. Celebrate every achievement with praise, not pressure or comparison between children. Parents who memorise too are the most effective example. Make the believers' supplication: “make us leaders of those who are mindful of You” (Surah al-Furqan 25:74). If someone is slow, help them patiently, because memorisation is a journey, not a race. See educating the family.
