Q&A › Character & conduct between spouses

🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #410

As a convert, I feel alone because my family has distanced itself. How do I find support?

Feeling alone after embracing Islam is very common, and building a new family within the community helps a great deal in healing it. Contact a nearby mosque, a convert support organisation, or the new Muslim (saudara baharu) unit at the state Islamic religious affairs office, which run classes and programmes. Look for Muslim friends who guide you patiently without judging your past. Keep reaching out to your original family with kindness too, because hearts can open again. Keep up your worship and dhikr, because they calm a fragile heart. If the sadness lasts and weighs you down, see a counsellor. See counselling.
