Q&A › Character & conduct between spouses

🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #407

My family rejects me and mocks me since I embraced Islam. How do I cope?

Family rejection after embracing Islam is a heavy trial, and the best way is to answer harshness with kindness, not by withdrawing. Allah says: “Repel (evil) with what is better; then the one between whom and you there was enmity will become as though he were a close friend” (Surah Fussilat 41:34). Keep doing good, asking after them and helping them without arguing about religion. Give them time; a change of heart often takes years, not days. Look for support from the Muslim community or friends so that you are not alone. Pray for their guidance (hidayah) in every prayer. See interfaith.
