Q&A › Rights & responsibilities

🏡 Rights & responsibilities · #181

My spouse has a big dream that demands a lot of time. How can I support it without the family being neglected?

A good dream can be pursued as long as the family is not made a casualty left behind. Talk openly about the real cost of that dream in time, money and energy, and its effect on the household. Set boundaries together: fixed family time that the dream does not intrude on. Break the dream into stages so it does not swallow everything at once. The one pursuing the dream needs to appreciate the sacrifice of the one holding things together at home. Review its effects from time to time and adjust if the family starts to be affected. Balanced support strengthens rather than exhausts. See communication & emotions.
