Q&A › Rights & responsibilities

🏡 Rights & responsibilities · #325

Our daily schedules are so different that we rarely see each other. How do we coordinate as a newly married couple?

When schedules clash, time together has to be planned deliberately, not hoped to happen by itself. Look at both your schedules and find the points where they meet, even if it is only breakfast, the time before bed, or one shared day off. Protect that time from work and phones. If one of you works shifts, align sleeping and meal times as best you can, and leave notes or loving messages to bridge the gap. Praying together in congregation when your times meet can become a fixed point each day. Reassess if the schedule is truly harming the marriage. The quality of your time together matters more than the number of hours. See everyday adab.
