🕊️ Conflict & resolution · #157

As soon as I found out my spouse was unfaithful, I felt like exploding. How do I control what I do?

Anger after betrayal is natural, but actions taken in the heat of the moment often add to the destruction. The Prophet ﷺ taught: “When one of you becomes angry while standing, let him sit down. If the anger leaves him, well and good; otherwise, let him lie down” (Sunan Abu Dawud 4782). Give yourself some distance before confronting: take wudu', step out for a while, or call someone who calms you. Avoid posting on social media, taking revenge, or making big decisions in the first few days. Write down what you feel to let it out without destroying anything. Once calm, then talk or seek advice. If there are signs of danger to you or your children, call the police on 999; Talian Kasih 15999 can offer support. See communication & emotions.
