🚪 Divorce, ʿiddah & rujuk · #66
I have just divorced and feel shattered. How can I recover emotionally and rebuild my life?
Allow yourself to grieve, because divorce is a real loss; then rebuild little by little — routine, support, finances and faith.
Allah promises: if the two separate, Allah will enrich each of them from His bounty (an-Nisa' 4:130), and with hardship comes ease (ash-Sharh 94:5–6). Practical steps: look after your sleep, meals and prayers; avoid big decisions such as remarrying while emotions are still raw; settle legal matters such as child maintenance and property; cut down on checking your former spouse's social media; keep relations civil for the children's sake; and join a support group or counselling. If sadness lasts so long that it is hard to function, or there are thoughts of self-harm, get help at once. See Single parents and Mental health.
