As head of the family, is it wrong to admit I made a mistake in front of my wife and children?
Admitting a mistake does not lower your leadership; in fact it teaches the family the meaning of honesty and humility. A leader who pretends to be always right loses trust, because everyone sees his mistakes but he refuses to admit them. When you get something wrong, say it directly: ‘Dad got it wrong just now, forgive me.’ Children learn to apologise from seeing you do it. This does not conflict with authority; rather it shows inner strength. Put the mistake right and carry on leading. A family respects a husband who has the courage to admit he was wrong more than one who defends his ego until the home is tense. See communication & emotions.
