Q&A › Character & conduct between spouses

🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #302

My heart is often so gripped by jealousy that I struggle to sleep. What spiritual practices can help?

Hand the burden of jealousy over to Allah first, before it eats away at your peace and your health. Allah teaches: “Seek help through patience and prayer” (Surah al-Baqarah 2:153), so make prayer and supplication the place where you lay down your anxiety. Increase your dhikr before sleep so your mind does not circle around suspicions. Pray for good for your spouse, because it is hard to hate someone we pray for. But worship does not replace conversation; if there is a real issue, deal with it wisely as well. If the anxiety drags on and affects your sleep and concentration, get professional help. A heart that leans on Allah calms more easily. See mental health.
