🏡 Rights & responsibilities · #260

Since becoming a mother, I feel I have lost myself and my freedom. Is this feeling sinful?

Missing your own space and self is not a sin and does not mean you are ungrateful or do not love your child. Becoming a mother is a big transition, and acknowledging this feeling is healthier than bottling it up while pretending to be strong. Plan a little time for yourself every day, however short, and ask your husband to look after the baby so you can breathe. Keep up one interest or friendship that lifts your spirits. Being a mother is a great act of worship, but looking after your own well-being lets you care for your child better. If this feeling turns into depression, see a doctor. See mental health.
