Q&A › Character & conduct between spouses

🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #269

Is it normal for feelings of love to rise and fall from time to time?

Feelings of love naturally rise and fall, and a low season does not mean the marriage has failed. Allah teaches: “If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good” (Surah an-Nisa' 4:19). When feelings are low, keep doing good and do not make big decisions. Renew your closeness with attention and time together. Remember that commitment carries you when feelings are weak. Low seasons usually pass when the relationship is cared for. Stability comes from effort, not only from excitement. See communication & emotions.
