Q&A › Raising children (tarbiyah)

🧒 Raising children (tarbiyah) · #91

How do I teach my child khusyuk (focus and humility) in prayer in a way that is easy to understand?

For a child, khusyuk begins with understanding that he is standing before Allah, who hears him. Teach it in simple words: imagine that Allah sees everything, so we speak to Him with respect. Ask him to look at the place of prostration and not glance here and there. Teach him the simple meaning of what he recites so that his heart takes part, not just his tongue. Reduce distractions: switch off the television and put the toys away before prayer. Do not burden him with demands for perfect khusyuk; praise small efforts. Children copy your calm, so pray beside him calmly. See prayer guide.
