A Malaysian woman married and living in a Gulf country wants a divorce. What are her routes?

Most Gulf states have family courts that allow a wife to seek khulʿ, divorce for harm, and fasakh for breach of conditions in the contract; a husband's talak must be documented within a set period.
For example, the UAE allows fasakh for breach of conditions (Article 33) and requires talak to be documented within 15 days (Article 58), while Qatar allows fasakh for breach of conditions and divorce for harm caused by polygamy (Article 53). So conditions written into the contract in these countries have real effect. Allah tells couples who cannot reconcile to part in a good way (al-Baqarah 2:229). Besides the process there, the divorce must be registered in Malaysia, and custody and the children's travel should be planned with lawyers in both countries. Contact the Malaysian embassy if help is needed. See The Gulf & Iran.
