Q&A › Character & conduct between spouses

🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #387

When I am angry, I am tempted to write about our marriage problems on social media. Why should I avoid it?

Posting marriage problems in anger wounds your spouse's dignity and rarely solves anything; it only adds regret. What is written in the heat of the moment spreads fast and lasts long after the anger has passed. Your followers cannot help; they just become spectators of your family's shame. Before writing, set yourself one rule: close the app first and pour out your feelings to Allah in prayer, or privately to one trustworthy person. If the issue needs resolving, take it to your spouse or a counsellor, not to the public. Keeping your spouse's secrets and faults covered is part of being a garment for them. Dignified silence protects a marriage. See communication & emotions.
