Q&A › Worship in the home

🕌 Worship in the home · #80

I find it hard to focus in prayer because I keep thinking about household matters. Any tips?

Deal first with the urgent matters that are on your mind, then enter the prayer with a freer heart. Finish or write down pressing tasks so they do not haunt you during prayer. Choose a quiet place away from the bustle, and pray early in its time before your mind fills up with other things. Understand the meaning of what you recite so that your heart is present too, not just your tongue. Pause for a moment before the takbir to settle your breathing and intention. Ask your spouse to mind the children for a while so you can pray calmly, and do the same for them. See prayer guide.
