🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #23
What does patience mean in married life, and where are its limits?
Patience means persevering in what is right, not staying silent about what causes harm.
Luqman advised his son: establish prayer, enjoin what is good, forbid what is wrong, and be patient over what befalls you (Luqman 31:17). Al-Baqarah 2:286 affirms that Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity — the same verse serves as evidence that a situation beyond one's capacity is not one that must be endured without action. If there is abuse or danger, patience does not mean staying silent; there are channels of protection, and they are covered in Trials in a marriage.
