🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #15
What does conduct towards neighbours and guests have to do with the home?
A household is also judged from outside its door.
The Prophet ﷺ said: whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not harm his neighbour; whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honour his guest; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent. An-Nisa’ 4:36 also lists the near neighbour, the distant neighbour and the companion at one's side among those who must be treated well. In a polygynous household, this means quarrels are not carried into the neighbours' yard.
