🏡 Rights & responsibilities · #371

The time-zone difference makes it hard for us to stay in touch while my spouse is abroad. What can we do?

A time difference can be overcome by setting one or two fixed times that suit both of you. Find the overlapping period in each other's day and make it a protected call time, however brief. If live calls are difficult, use voice messages and texts so that contact keeps flowing through the day. Be accommodating; now and then one of you will need to wake early or stay up late for the other. Share calendars so that you know when each other is busy or free. What matters is consistency, not the length of the call. See communication & emotions.
