After divorce, which documents and records do I need to update?

Check every nomination, account and document that still names your ex-spouse, because they do not change by themselves after divorce. Start with your EPF (KWSP), takaful and savings account nominees, because your ex-spouse is no longer your heir. Also update any will (wasiat), hibah or trust, and consider naming a trustee for the children. Change your next-of-kin details at work, at the hospital and at the children's school. Separate joint accounts, supplementary cards and shared subscriptions. Keep the divorce certificate and court orders in a safe place, along with digital copies. List everything and settle it one by one over a few weeks. Read also managing an estate.
