I feel as if I am competing with my husband's work, which takes up all his time. What should I do?
When work swallows almost all of his time and energy, a wife can easily feel she comes second. Tell your husband this feeling calmly, not as an attack on his work, but as missing his presence. Agree together on a time that is truly for the family, free of phones and work e-mail. Appreciate your husband's efforts in earning the family's maintenance (nafkah), and he in turn should realise the family needs his presence, not only his money. Look for practical solutions, such as a protected time for coming home or protected weekends. Balancing work and family is a shared responsibility. See communication & emotions.
