Q&A › Divorce, ʿiddah & rujuk

🚪 Divorce, ʿiddah & rujuk · #94

We have been married only a few months and are already thinking of divorce. Is it too soon?

The first year is hard for most couples, so do not make this big decision while you are still in shock from married life. Many early conflicts come from expectations that were never discussed, different family-of-origin ways and financial pressure. All of these can be learned and improved. Ask yourself honestly: is the problem a habit that can change, or is there something serious such as major deceit or cruelty? If it is a habit, try couples counselling first and set a few small changes to monitor together. If there is cruelty, the situation is different and you need to get help immediately.
