🏡 Rights & responsibilities · #298
I have just married and do not know how to lead a family. Where should I start?
Leadership is learned little by little, so start by fulfilling the basic responsibilities before worrying about big things. Provide maintenance (nafkah) according to your means, treat your wife well, and set a few simple routines such as prayer and time to talk together. Ask your wife about her hopes, and build your own way of working as a couple, rather than copying someone else's household wholesale. Observe heads of family you admire and learn from their character. Do not be shy to ask questions or admit you are still learning. Pre-marriage courses and materials for husbands can help. Leadership in the first year is about building trust and habits, not mastering everything at once. See husbands' course.
