Q&A › Family finances

💰 Family finances · #18

Does saving for emergencies conflict with trust in Allah (tawakkul)?

No. Saving is part of managing the provision given, not a denial of it.
At-Talaq 65:7 says the person of means spends according to his means and the one whose provision is restricted spends from what Allah has given him — a verse that accepts that circumstances change. Al-Furqan 25:67 praises the middle course between waste and miserliness. Al-Kahf 18:46 reminds us that wealth and children are the adornment of the life of this world, so that savings do not become the goal. We do not state a number of months of expenses or any target figure, because such figures do not come from the texts.
