Q&A › Rights & responsibilities

🏡 Rights & responsibilities · #300

What is the difference between protecting the family and controlling them in the name of leadership?

Protection gives the family a sense of security and room to grow; control plants fear and restricts them. Protection guards the family from real danger and guides with love, while respecting their dignity and views. Control, on the other hand, denies permitted freedoms, monitors excessively, and cuts the wife off from her family and good friends. Ask yourself: do my actions make them calmer and more confident, or more fearful and confined? Give trust as long as there is no reasonable cause not to. If you find yourself being excessively controlling, talk to a counsellor. Healthy love protects without imprisoning. See counselling.
