Q&A › Worship in the home

🕌 Worship in the home · #170

We read the Qur'an together diligently but understand little of its meaning. How do we begin reflecting on it (tadabbur) as a family?

Start with one verse a week, read together with its translation and discussed in a language everyone understands. Reading without understanding is still rewarded, but tadabbur lets the Qur'an touch your daily life. Choose short verses close to everyday life, for example from the surahs in the last juz'. Read a recognised translation, then consult a trusted short tafsir to understand the context. Ask the family three questions: what does this verse say, how does it make us feel, and what can we put into practice this week? Let the children answer first. Avoid interpreting it yourselves without references; if questions come up, note them down and ask a teacher. See educating the family.
