Can I take a second wife secretly without telling my first wife, to avoid fights?

Planning a marriage in secret plants deception at the root of the household and denies your wife the right to face the truth with dignity. Islam is built on honesty and fulfilling trusts, and hiding something this big usually deepens the wound when it comes out later. An unregistered marriage also denies legal protection to the wife and children. If you are truly sure you are able and your intention is right, convey your wish in a good and courageous way, not in hiding.
