Q&A › Raising children (tarbiyah)

🧒 Raising children (tarbiyah) · #65

How can boys be raised to become responsible husbands one day?

It starts at home: a boy learns from how his father treats his mother, and from the tasks and values he is taught from childhood.
The Prophet ﷺ said that the best of you are those who are best to their wives (Jamiʿ at-Tirmidhi 1162), and he himself helped with housework (Sahih al-Bukhari 676). Male leadership in the Quran (an-Nisa' 4:34) is tied to the responsibility of providing and protecting, not a right to dominate. Teach boys: to do housework and cook; to manage money and not borrow carelessly; to control anger without violence; to respect women in word and deed, including online; and to understand that maintenance and fairness are a trust. Discuss the values of marriage openly when he is a teenager. See Course for husbands.
