Q&A › Polygyny: rulings & justice

⚖️ Polygyny: rulings & justice · #110

Is it true that I will be questioned about my fairness to my wives?

Yes; justice between wives is a trust Allah will ask about, whether or not anyone else is watching. The Prophet ﷺ warned: “Whoever has two wives and inclines towards one of them, he will come on the Day of Resurrection with one side of his body leaning” (Sunan Abu Dawud 2133). This is not just a matter of scheduling, but a responsibility before Allah. Intend to divide honestly, not to cheat either of them. Record the rota and what you give so that you yourself can see if you start to lean to one side. If you make a mistake, correct it and make up her due promptly. See household system.
