🤍 Character & conduct between spouses · #209

How can kind words become part of our daily habits at home?

A tongue used to speaking kindly changes the atmosphere at home more than any gift. The Prophet ﷺ said: “A good word is charity” (Sahih al-Bukhari 2989), and this is a charity that can be given many times a day for free. Get into the habit of expressing appreciation, encouragement and short du'a for your spouse and children. Replace harsh orders with polite requests, and complaints with suggestions. If you slip into saying something bad, quickly make up for it with a good word. A home where the tongue is gentle feels like a shelter, not a battlefield. Start today with one kind word to each person at home. See everyday adab.
