Before praying istikharah, first gather the real picture: your financial means, your readiness to be just, and the effect on your family. Pray istikharah and make dua with a heart truly ready to accept whatever is best, even if that means not going ahead. Notice the calm in your heart and how matters open up or close afterwards, as well as the advice of knowledgeable people. Do not use istikharah to confirm a wish you have already settled.
