Yes; you can check whether you are eligible for legal aid, and you can also appear and represent yourself. The Legal Aid Department (Jabatan Bantuan Guaman) provides legal services to those who qualify, including in some Islamic family cases. Bring your identity card, the court notice and your income details when you enquire. If you do not qualify, you can still attend yourself; these proceedings are usually held in private and the judge will hear your view.
